Pigmentation The Lighter Side

Pigmentation The Lighter Side

Fact:
Mostly you wondered what the culprit is behind the brown spots on your face? There are a number of causes of pigmentation. The most common is the sun. This may appear on our skin as sunspots years after a time of exposure under  the sun. Another common cause of pigmentation is hormonal changes, which can come with the use of oral contraceptives, pregnancy or menopause. This usually shows up as larger spots on our skin and usually called melasma. Pigmentation may also be a result of over facial treatments and creams. It is important to know that darker skin types can be increased pigmentation of the use of certain creams, aggressive acid peels or deep laser treatments.

Solution:
The most common mistake is to assume that there is a treatment for all types of pigmentation. Various forms of pigmentation will respond to different treatments. Freckles, sun spots and mild post-acne marks can be effectively cleared with some treatments of Intense Pulse Light (IPLs) or pigment lasers. Deeper brown stains such as those caused by melasma usually do well with the new lasers such as Fraxel laser or the revolutionary Mixto laser.

Prospects:
Sun avoidance and the regular use of broad spectrum of the sun protection will help reduce new pigmentation from reoccurring. Topical Vitamin C is very helpful in the fight against free radicals from UV exposure. It is also good in lighter skin. Try Skin Inc Pure C (if you love a water based pure vitamin c solution) or iS Clinical's  Super Serum (a synergistic solution of the top antioxidants for youthful, healthy skin).
